Ministries

Our ministries seek to connect you to God, the church, and others.  We strive to offer something for everyone - individuals, families, children, youth, single adults, the believer and seeker.  Through our ministries we want to come alongside you and walk with you in your pursuit of Christ and the life He desires for you.

Listed below are our different ministry opportunities:

‘The Ascent’: Children and Student Ministries

The children and youth ministries of Portview Christian Center consider your child a top priority.  The word ascent means upward or vertical climb and/or a process by which somebody becomes successful or fulfilled. Our children and student ministries have been developed with this idea in mind. Each ministry is designed to assist your child in their climb or path in life with Christ.  It is our goal to assist your child to connect to and experience God, and to nurture and launch them into a personal relationship with Christ while they build long-lasting relationships with each other.

Our leaders complete an application, training and background check process.

Nursery and Toddlers (Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays):

Our teachers play games, color, sing songs and care for your precious gift while you ministered to in our worhsip services.

Preschool and Kindergarten (Sundays):

We offer two separate age-appropriate classes that are designed to introduce children the Bible and an understanding of how precious they are to our Lord Jesus.

Children’s Church  (K-6th grade on Saturdays, 1st-4th grade on Sundays):

This is our “base camp” designed to give our children the foundation of knowledge and tools they will need as they begin their “ascent.”  These services are designed to be interactive, experiential, relational, and focus on developing your child’s relationship with Christ.  We do this through lively worship, skits, interactive teaching, projects, games, visits from special characters and loads of fun.

IMPACT (5th-8th grade Sundays following worship)

Our IMPACT class is designed with the young teenager in mind. Our goal is to assist our students in connecting with God, their church, and others through the use of relevant and life applicable studies.  IMPACT is based on 1 Timothy 4:12 - “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, conduct, love, spirit, faith and purity.”

Royal Rangers (Wednesdays @ 6:30 pm):

Royals Rangers is a boys ministry program designed to “Reach, Teach and Keep Boys for Christ.”  The Royal Ranger program uses a mix of bible study, devotions, hands-on activities, and games to speak into the lives of our young boys.

Adventure Rangers: 6th- 8th grade

Friends Club: 6th, 7th, & 8th grade

Tempered Youth  (Wednesdays 6:30 pm):

Tempered Youth is the Junior/Senior High ministry of Portview Christian Center. It is our desire to invite this generation of students to connect with God, their church, and others.  We want to provide them the tools and resources whereby they can develop and maintain a personal relationship with Christ.  Tempered Youth provides an opportunity for our youth to gather, worship together, share with and support each other as they strive to walk out their faith.

Summer Camps and Kids Conventions (3rd-8th grade):

We offer several opportunities for our kids to join other kids from around the state at camps, conventions, and retreats.  Our kids are able to experience nationally known speakers and worship teams.  Children’s workers assist in building your child’s faith and help them to develop a deeper, stronger relationship with Christ.

Pee-Wee, Junior, and Teen Bible Quiz ( K-8th grade):

The Bible Quiz program involves students memorizing facts from and about the Bible.  Our teams then compete against other church teams from our district in a “trivia-style” competition.  This program is a great way for your child to hide God’s word in their heart.

Men’s Ministry

Our men’s ministry is a way for men to connect with other men and develop friendships and accountability relationships.  This ministry also provides our men with opportunities to study the Word together and participate in service projects.

  • Men’s Oil Change Ministry
  • Portview Moving Ministry

  • “Men on their Knees” Prayer Ministry

Women’s Ministry:

Media Arts Ministry

Our media arts ministry exists to expand and enhance the presentation of the gospel, and to equip and train people in the local church in the areas of video, audio,  and the Internet.

Worship Ministry

We were created to worship the living God, and we believe that worship is not something that just prepares us for preaching but that it is a pursuit worthy of itself. Our worship teams exist to aid and lead God’s people into corporate worship.

SWAP - Seniors With A Purpose

Our SWAP group meets once a month at church for a potluck luncheon and fellowship.  Each month they enjoy a special guest speaker who serves to remind them that they can still greatly influence our world for Christ.

Life Groups’: Small Group Ministry

We want you to experience relationships - with God and with others. The Bible commands us to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and to love our neighbors as ourselves. It’s really very simple: love God, love others. When you are loving God and loving others, you are passionately pursuing spiritual growth. Spiritual maturity is not a destination, but rather a continual pursuit. Participating in a Life Group will help you on this pursuit.
