I believe that is what God feels like. He knows what is best for us. He loves us so much that when he sees us doing something we should not be doing he will discipline us.

Hebrews12: 5-12
“My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, 6 because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son.” 7 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father?

We have all heard, “This is going to hurt me more than it will you.” Yes, it does hurt parents to disciple, but because of our love for our children we do it. We want them to grow up to be responsible, well respected adults.

When God disciplines us, it is because he loves us. He wants us to grow!!

Hebrews 12: 9-11
“9 “Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live! 10 Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness. 11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.”

Parents, It is so important to teach your children to love and respect you and those in authority. Children need to know that discipline is for their good. If you do not teach them this concept, they will have a harder time understanding the Lord’s discipline. They will also have a hard time submitting to God’s authority.
